Summary

Elice Group (KOSDAQ: 0158S0) made its stock-market debut on October 20, 2026, at a price well below its KRW 90,500 initial public offering.

The selloff was striking because the company's financial performance had improved sharply. First-half 2026 revenue reached KRW 34.4 billion, while operating profit climbed to KRW 10.3 billion.

But Elice is undergoing a fundamental business transformation. Once known primarily for AI education software, it now derives most of its revenue from AI cloud infrastructure.

That shift changes how investors should value the company.

GPU cloud services require substantial spending on computing hardware, data centers and supporting infrastructure. Although Elice is reporting strong operating profits, its investment requirements remain significantly larger than the cash generated from operations.

Korea Alpha's central question is whether Elice can translate growing AI cloud earnings into sustainable returns on invested capital.

Our scenario-based fair value is KRW 74,400 per share, representing approximately 13.9% upside from a Reuters-reported October 20 intraday reference price of KRW 65,300.

Key Takeaways

What Happened

Elice Group listed on the KOSDAQ on October 20 after raising approximately KRW 201.1 billion through its IPO.

The offering had attracted substantial interest. Institutional bookbuilding was 388.84 times subscribed, with 2,367 participating institutions. The final offer price of KRW 90,500 was at the top of the indicated range, implying a post-listing equity value of approximately KRW 1 trillion.

The trading debut was substantially weaker.

Shares opened at KRW 75,700 and fell to KRW 61,000 during morning trading. Reuters subsequently reported a price of KRW 65,300, approximately 27.8% below the offer price.

The decline occurred amid broader concerns about the financial returns on AI infrastructure investment.

Yet Elice’s underlying business was not deteriorating in the same way its share price suggested. Revenue and operating profit had already accelerated, supported by the expansion of its GPU cloud business.

The IPO selloff therefore raises a valuation question rather than establishing an operating failure.

Why It Matters

Elice Group’s IPO selloff highlights a growing distinction between AI infrastructure earnings and the cash required to sustain them.

Despite a 30.1% operating margin in 1H26, equipment purchases substantially exceeded operating cash flow.

The investment question is whether rising GPU utilization can deliver sustainable cash returns—not simply higher revenue.

Korea Alpha View

Elice has demonstrated earnings growth. It has not yet demonstrated equally strong cash conversion.

The company reported first-half EBITDA of approximately KRW 23.2 billion, more than twice its KRW 10.3 billion operating profit.

The difference largely reflects depreciation and amortization associated with its infrastructure assets.

EBITDA is useful for comparing operating performance, but it does not capture the cash required to purchase or replace computing equipment.

In the same six-month period, Elice generated approximately KRW 6.6 billion in operating cash flow while spending KRW 41.3 billion on property, plant and equipment.

This produces a cash shortfall of approximately KRW 34.7 billion after those equipment purchases, before considering other investing activities. It is a simplified cash-flow measure, not a standardized free-cash-flow forecast.

For shareholders, the distinction is fundamental.

Higher GPU utilization could improve profitability as infrastructure capacity scales. Conversely, slower demand, pricing pressure or faster equipment obsolescence could weaken returns despite continued revenue growth.

Korea Alpha therefore applies a lower valuation multiple than the IPO underwriting benchmark.
